Dubstep, Revolution and Project Management

Welcome everyone to another installment of random weirdness and general stupidity. For those of you that know me, you will know that I have quite eclectic tastes in music. I always try to listen to new music, and I'm not afraid to try something new at all. I've been a very big fan of electric music for a good few years. I've been a massive fan of Depeche Mode since the mid 1980's (Yes I am that old, but I don't look it), and more recently I've grown to love bands like Simian Mobile Disco, MSTRKRFT etc.. So when Dubstep became the latest big thing in music, I never found it offensive. The only problem being that a few years down the line and now the genre has become a parody of itself. For those of you familiar with dubstep you will know that it's characterised with its big electronic bass notes. But because it;s the latest "big thing" everyone and everything has become a part of the dubstep scene. Nothing is sacred anymore, so what started off as an interesting sound has now been turned into a commercial recipe for success. You can put a dubstep bassline into almost any song and It would become a massive hit. I was listening to Radio 1, and they started playing an old song from the 80's, I can't remember the name of the original song, or artist, but it was one of those instantly recognisable tunes. Whats this doing on Radio 1 I thought, then it started part way into the song, " MEEEEEEEEEEEEEP, wub wub wub wub wub wub wub, MEEEEEEEEEEEEP, wub wub wub wub wub wub". And they was raving about it like it was the best thing that they had ever heard. Seriously It's an old 80's tune with Meep noises in it. It's hardly massive songwriting talent is it. So anyway that got me thinking what else might sound good with a dubstep makeover, Neighbours perhaps, How about Countdown. No its better than that, look what I found. So in order to make this blog more "urban" It's  having a dubstep remix all of its own.

Also this week its my last full week in my current job role (Boo Hoo), so I've been setting up what will be my new office and workspace. After many wonderful years of working on the phones doing sales, I'm now going to be moving on and concentrating on my new role of IT and working on the Internet site. I'm quite sad to leave it in a way as between me and Scott we set the whole thing going and started the revolution.MEEEEEEEEEEEEP wub wub wub wub wub wub wub wub. Its almost like my baby has grown up and I've got to release them into the big wide world to fend for themselves. So whoever gets to be the captain of the ship. I wish them luck on there continuing voyage. "To seek out new life, new civilisations. To boldly go where no man has gone before". Ooops sorry I slightly drifted off topic there for a moment. I'll be fondly looking back every now and again to check. On the plus side My new desk now has Dual screens which is quite AWESOME, and is prompting much monitor envy. MEEEEEEEEEEEP wub wub wub wub wub wub I just tell everyone I need 2 as I have 2 eyes. Quite simple.

Don't worry I'm 'armless ..
People have also been asking me how my various projects are going on, so I thought I'd give you an update to keep you informed. In the weird and wacky world of papercraft the Master Chief is progressing quite well. The torso is all done and attached to the legs. And I'm currently assembling the arms so its progressing nicely. I've got a nice queue building up for future papercraft projects, including Formula One cars, Yoda and A massive AT-AT. so watch this space. MEEEEEEEEEEEEEP wub wub wub wub wub wub. The lightsaber project is on hold for the moment although I've found some good plans. I've also been re exploring my original hack of the photo frame PC, and have some good ideas how to take the Project forward. I might start using the project planner in Microsoft office to help me organise myself. Or I could just get a normal life, go out with normal people and not spend my evenings in the company of pieces of paper, soldering irons and xbox's. MEEEEEEEEEEEEEP wub wub wub wub wub wub wub.

Right I'm of now as I might just make practice 2 for the Italian Grand Prix. and maybe I might do next weeks blog in a reggae style (Who knows !!!!)
